At Catalino Quality Construction, carpentry is at the heart of what we do. Whether you need custom framing for a new addition, structural repairs to an aging home, or beautifully crafted finish work, our skilled crew delivers dependable results throughout Marietta, Roswell, and the greater Atlanta area. With nearly 15 years of hands-on experience, owner Robert Catalino brings precision and care to every project.

Structural and Rough Carpentry

Our structural work covers the carpentry that holds a house together. We frame additions and new rooms, modify or remove load-bearing walls (with proper engineered beams and headers), build deck substructures, repair damaged joists and rafters, install LVL beams, and rebuild rotted band boards and ledgers. Every structural change is permitted and inspected where required and built to current Georgia residential code.

Custom Built-Ins and Cabinetry

We also build custom interior carpentry — built-in bookshelves, window seats, mudroom benches with cubbies, closet systems, entertainment centers, and bench seating. These are site-built (not store-bought and assembled), which means they fit your space exactly, match existing trim profiles, and use materials chosen to match the room.

Decks, Porches, and Exterior Carpentry

A significant portion of our carpentry work is exterior — new deck construction, deck repair, porch rebuilds, pergolas, and exterior trim. We use pressure-treated framing, stainless or hot-dipped galvanized hardware rated for Georgia's humidity, and material selections (cedar, composite, hardwood) appropriate to the use. See our finer-grained pages on trim carpentry, hand rail installation, and wood stairs for related interior work.

Licensed and Insured

Catalino Quality Construction is licensed through the State of Georgia and carries full liability and workers' compensation coverage. Our family-run business is built on honest communication, clean job sites, and craftsmanship we're willing to put our name on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between rough and finish carpentry?

Rough carpentry is the structural work hidden behind the walls — framing, sheathing, decking substructure, blocking, and load-bearing modifications. Finish carpentry is everything visible — trim, doors, built-ins, stair parts, and millwork. Both require different skills and tooling, and we handle both. For a deeper dive on the finish side, see fine finish carpentry and trim carpentry.

Do I need a permit for carpentry work?

Structural carpentry — removing or modifying load-bearing walls, building decks, adding rooms, altering rafters or floor joists — requires a building permit in Marietta, Roswell, Cobb County, and surrounding jurisdictions. Non-structural work like installing baseboards, building a built-in bookshelf, or replacing a single floor joist generally does not. We handle the permit process when required.

Can you fix structural issues from an inspection report?

Yes. We regularly address items flagged on pre-sale home inspections — sagging joists, undersized beams, improper notching, missing fire blocking, deck ledger problems, and similar structural issues. We bring repairs up to current building code and provide documentation for the inspector or buyer's agent.

How do you price custom carpentry projects?

Custom work is quoted by scope after an in-home measurement, not by square foot. We break the estimate into labor, materials, and any subcontracted trades so you can see exactly where the money goes. For larger jobs we provide a fixed price; for time-and-materials situations (like uncovering hidden damage), we agree on a process upfront.
