Tongue-and-Groove Porch Ceiling

Vinyl soffit does a job; it just never looks like anything. This covered entry and walkway got the upgrade version: knotty pine tongue-and-groove planks run the full length of both ceiling sections, fitted board by board around the recessed light and finished natural.

Overhead surfaces are the most underrated exterior detail — you see a porch ceiling every time you walk to the door, and warm wood against pale siding changes the whole entry.
