Custom Hall Tree & Staircase Railing
Two pieces of finish carpentry, one entry. The hall tree fills the wall by the front door: board-and-batten paneling with a corbel-supported crown shelf, four double coat hooks, and a bench with a stained oak top over six open shoe cubbies. The oak seat is the same tone as the staircase newel posts beside it, which is what makes it read as built for the house rather than bought for it.
The staircase got the matching half of the job — a full railing upgrade with stained oak newel posts and handrail over matte black iron balusters, carried from the entry landing up through the second floor. Standing at the door, the bench top, rail, and treads all land in the same finish.
