Grand Entrance Staircase & Handrail
This foyer staircase is double width — a straight run up to a landing that splits to balconies on both sides, under a chandelier and an arched window over leaded-glass entry doors. The railing work is traditional and formal: dark-stained handrails that begin in volutes over the bottom steps, white turned balusters, oak treads with painted white risers, and scroll brackets dressing the open stringer.
Full-height wainscoting lines the two-story entry, framing the arched mirror nook and passage beneath the landing. Work at this scale is about symmetry — matching rail sweeps on both sides, baluster rhythm that survives the turn at the landing, and stain and paint lines that stay crisp where dark wood meets white millwork for two stories.
