Trim Carpentry

Trim carpentry in Marietta, Roswell, and greater Atlanta. Baseboards, casing, door and window trim, chair rail, and shoe molding. Free estimates.

Trim carpentry is the visible finish work that defines the character of every room — baseboard, door and window casing, crown, and the small details that make a house feel intentional. Catalino Quality Construction provides clean, tight trim work throughout Marietta, Roswell, and the greater Atlanta area.

Baseboards, Casing, and Chair Rail

Our trim services cover the full running-trim package: baseboards in any profile and height, with optional shoe or quarter-round; door and window casing in colonial, craftsman, modern flat-stock, or custom profiles; chair rail and picture rail for traditional dining rooms and hallways; and wainscoting cap and base combinations. We measure each opening individually rather than assuming everything is the same size, and we cope inside corners on standing trim so the joints stay tight through seasonal humidity changes.

Door and Window Trim Replacement

Replacing the casing around doors and windows is one of the highest-impact upgrades in a home — far more visual change per dollar than people expect. We remove the existing casing carefully (without damaging the jamb), install backband, casing, and any stool-and-apron combinations for windows, fill and caulk all joints, and touch-up paint. Pre-painted or unfinished profiles are both available depending on whether you want to match an existing trim color or repaint everything.

Caulk, Fill, and Finish

The single biggest difference between professional and amateur trim is the finish prep. We countersink every nail, fill with appropriate filler, sand smooth, caulk every wall-to-trim joint, mask carefully, and roll or brush a clean finish coat. Joints disappear, walls and trim meet in a single clean line, and the work reads as part of the house rather than something added later.

Licensed and Insured

Catalino Quality Construction is licensed through the State of Georgia and fully insured. Robert Catalino has been running trim across Cobb County homes for nearly 15 years, and we treat every door, window, and wall line as something the homeowner will see daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between trim carpentry and finish carpentry?

Trim carpentry is the running-trim work in a house — baseboard, door and window casing, crown molding, chair rail, and shoe — typically installed in long repeating profiles throughout multiple rooms. Fine finish carpentry is custom millwork like built-ins, mantels, and paneling. Both are finish-side work and both demand precise miters, copes, and a clean caulk-and-paint result.

Can you replace just the baseboards without touching paint?

Usually we recommend painting at least the new baseboard and the bottom inch or two of wall after install, because the old paint line will show where the previous baseboard sat. Touch-up paint is faster and looks better than trying to leave existing paint untouched. We coordinate with you on this during the estimate.

How tall should baseboards be?

Baseboard height is a proportional choice. For 8-foot ceilings, 4 1/4-inch to 5 1/4-inch baseboard reads as classic and well-balanced. For 9- to 10-foot ceilings, step up to 5 1/2- to 7-inch profiles. For homes over 10 feet, 7- to 9-inch baseboard or a built-up base with a cap shoe looks proportional. We bring samples to your home before ordering.

Do you fix damaged trim or only install new?

Both. We repair trim damaged by water, pets, movers, or normal wear — usually by replacing the affected section, blending into existing profile, and touching up paint. For older homes with custom profiles we can sometimes source matching stock or have a profile cut at a local mill.
