Custom Built-In Deck Bench
Chairs on a deck eat floor space — a built-in bench doesn't. This L-shaped bench runs along two sides of an existing deck railing, framed in pressure-treated lumber with a wide plank seat and solid box legs, sized to pull up to the outdoor dining table.
It's a small project with a clear before-and-after in how the deck lives: the corner that used to hold empty chairs now seats a full dinner table's worth of people, and the floor stays open. The new lumber was left to weather toward the deck's gray rather than forcing a finish match on day one.
