Front Porch Steps Rebuild

The front steps on this two-story home were rebuilt from the ground up: new pressure-treated stringers cut in place, new treads, and new handrails on 4x4 posts, all tied into the existing painted porch railing. The construction photo shows the honest middle of the job — stringers and treads set, posts plumbed, drills still sitting on the treads, no rails yet.

The finished stairs land square on the curved concrete walkway, with round black iron balusters to match the porch's style, solar caps on the posts, and blocking between the stringers to keep everything rigid. The new wood was left natural to weather in rather than being painted to match the old rail on day one — pressure-treated lumber needs a season to dry before it takes paint or stain well.
