Flooring Installation

Flooring installation in Marietta, Roswell, and greater Atlanta. Hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, tile, and engineered wood flooring.

New flooring can dramatically change the look, feel, and value of your home. Catalino Quality Construction provides professional flooring installation throughout Marietta, Roswell, and the greater Atlanta area. We install hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, and tile flooring with the subfloor prep and layout planning that make floors look right for decades.

Flooring Types We Install

Solid and engineered hardwood remain the gold standard for living spaces — see our dedicated hardwood flooring page for species, finishes, and refinishing. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) has become the dominant choice for basements, kitchens, and rental properties because it's waterproof, durable, and visually convincing. Laminate is a cost-effective wood look for bedrooms and family rooms. Porcelain and ceramic tile are the right answer for bathrooms, mudrooms, and any wet area. We work with materials from trusted manufacturers including Shaw and Mohawk.

Subfloor Preparation

Most flooring failures trace back to subfloor problems — not the flooring itself. We inspect the subfloor for moisture, flatness (within manufacturer tolerances, typically 3/16" in 10 feet for hard surface), squeaks, and fastener pops. We install proper underlayment and moisture barriers per product and substrate, and we address any deflection or movement before the new floor goes in. Skipping this step is the single biggest reason hardwood gaps and LVP locks fail prematurely.

Layout, Transitions, and Trim

Layout planning matters as much as the install itself. We start lines parallel to the longest sight line, work in random plank patterns that look natural, place seams away from high-traffic alignment, and minimize cuts at doorways. Transitions between rooms, into tile, and at stair nosings are detailed cleanly. New baseboards and shoe molding (see our trim carpentry page) can be added at the same time for a finished look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of flooring is best for Georgia's humidity?

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and porcelain tile are the most humidity-tolerant choices and perform especially well in basements, bathrooms, and homes without consistent HVAC. Engineered hardwood is more stable than solid hardwood in humid climates because its cross-laminated core resists cupping and gapping. Solid hardwood still works well in conditioned living areas with stable humidity. We help you match material to the room and the substrate.

Do you need to remove the existing floor first?

Usually, yes — most installations require removing the old flooring to inspect the subfloor and ensure proper thickness, flatness, and moisture levels. LVP and laminate can occasionally be installed over existing vinyl or tile if the substrate is sound, flat, and well-bonded. We assess each situation during the estimate.

How long does a flooring installation take?

For a typical 1,000 to 1,500 square foot main level, LVP and laminate installations run two to four days. Hardwood (nail-down or glue-down) typically takes three to five days plus acclimation time before installation and finishing time afterward if site-finished. Tile installations are usually three to six days depending on size, pattern, and grout cure time.

Can you match existing flooring in another room?

Often, yes — we can usually source flooring that matches or closely complements existing material if you know the brand and product. Stain-matching site-finished hardwood from one room to a new addition is more involved but possible. Where an exact match isn't available, a transition strip at a doorway is a common solution.
